Race in america: Phil Vischer

The first resource I wanted to share is this video by Phil Vischer. I love this video for its clarity. Phil provides a thorough overview of how our housing policies over the years have often been a backdrop for many other systemic inequities. It is eye-opening and worth taking the time to watch.

the history of redlining in seattle

Continuing our discussion on Housing and Race, I wanted to share this short video from PBS which gives a brief history of redlining in Seattle.  I also included an interesting article about the Seattle neighborhood deed restrictions and a link to the "Segregation Maps" to see how our city has changed in demographics over time.

housing segregation and redlining in america

The last resource I will share with you is this NPR Video entitled: “Housing Segregation and Redlining in America.”  It takes a longer look at US housing policies, and gives a succinct historical overview. (Pardon a brief profanity at the start).
